THE BELL TOWER ON DOG POINT IS SITUATED ON THE ESTATE OF DOG POINT VINEYARDS, ONE OF THE EARLIEST PRIVATELY OWNED VINEYARDS TO BE ESTABLISHED IN MARLBOROUGH (1979), AND HOME OF THE BOUTIQUE DOG POINT VINEYARD WINERY.
On its logo Dog Point Vineyard pays homage to the iconic New Zealand 'Ti Kouka' commonly known as the Cabbage Tree. The Ti Kouka’s remarkable natural qualities and strong signature of geographical identity have a synergy with the wines of Dog Point, which are a natural expression of the land from which they are created.
Dog Point Vineyards produce four premium wines from three varieties;
- Sauvignon Blanc - a tank fermented wine typical of the Marlborough style,
- Section 94 -a french oak barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc using indigenous yeast
- Chardonnay - undergoes an indigenous ferment in mostly old barrels,
- Pinot Noir - aged for 18 months in french oak, 40% of which is new.
